Student Liaison to the School Committee
The Yarmouth School Committee supports the inclusion of up to two high school student representatives to the School Committee each year. Each such student representative will serve in a nonvoting capacity, although his or her "vote" by a show of hands will be encouraged and documented in formal minutes on each action item at monthly school committee meetings. Each student representative shall attend business and workshop meetings. Each shall act as a liaison between the School Committee and the student body. Student representatives shall be excluded from executive sessions.
Each student representative shall serve a two-year term (defined as two complete school years). The terms shall overlap so that one new representative is appointed each school year. The procedures for nomination and selection onto the School Committee is outlined in policy BBAB-R.
