Dear YHS Families,

For those of you who were unable to watch Friday’s senior recognition ceremony, we invite you to view this year’s celebration at this link here.  Of note, we would like to recognize Caeden Rogers and Jason Lainey as the recipients of the Lions Club Community Service award, as they were unable to attend this year’s banquet.  We would also like to express our appreciation to the senior parent group which organized a special bus convoy celebration for our seniors on Sunday.

We are down to our last week of distance learning for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.  Please continue to support your student in order to complete their Essential Assignments and end the year on a positive note.  For those students who were unable to complete schoolwork during the 4th quarter, we will be offering a summer school program that will give them the opportunity to earn credit, and will share more information next week.

YEF Update

We have exciting news at YEF! The oysters that were part of the second phase of Morgan Cuthbert’s Shellfish Nursery grant have grown to maturity and are now ready for harvest. Thanks to the dedication of multiple seventh grade classes and a strong team of core volunteers, along with the help of local oyster farmer, Thomas Henninger, these oysters will be available for sale through a partnership with Maine Oyster Company.  For more information about the Oyster grant please see:  https://yarmoutheducationfoundation.org/grant-in-action-shellfish-nursery-part-2/ Please visit the following site to purchase your oysters and find details about the packages available—and don’t miss the great video that Morgan and his team put together that is featured on this page: https://themaineoystercompany.com/share/yarmouth.  As always, thank you for your support of YEF.

Respectfully,

Eric Klein, Amy Bongard, & David Creech - YHS Administrative Team
