Dear Parents and Guardians,

Based on the district’s decision regarding events and activities, next week we are planning for regular classes at YHS. This will have the following impact on programming at Yarmouth High School.

- 9th grade students will not be participating in community service projects or the Boston field trip.

- 10th and 11th grade CEP programs are postponed indefinitely and may be cancelled.

- The senior workshop day is also cancelled.  Seniors will attend regular classes as well.

We realize that some families may have made travel plans for their children’s CEP placements.  Should you choose to travel, we ask you to be aware of the risks and warnings from the CDC, which include possible quarantine scenarios at the site of visit, or recommended quarantines upon your return.  As is the case for any family travel, these absences would be considered excused. If you decide to continue with your plans to travel next week, please call or email the main office at 846-5535.

It is important to note that should we decide to cancel this year’s CEP program, students will be exempted from this year’s CEP experience as a graduation requirement.

This is a time of uncertainty, and there are other questions looking ahead to the rest of the school year.  At this time, we have not made any decisions regarding spring activities such as prom and graduation.

In terms of next week, we will spend time in classes preparing students for online or E-Learning opportunities.  As part of this work, we will continue to provide you with updates to help support your child’s learning. As we continue to receive information and updates on a daily basis, it is important that we meet this challenge together in the spirit of collaboration, compassion and patience for all.

Respectfully,

Eric Klein, Amy Bongard, & David Creech - YHS Administrative Team
