Dear Parents and Guardians,

With the end of the first quarter two weeks away, Clipper Catch Up is an opportunity for students to meet with teachers to make up quizzes, exams, or other assignments.  On Thursday, October 24th, we will use an abbreviated schedule which provides time at the end of the day for additional academic support.   (Please note - 12th grade students with senior privileges may be dismissed if they are meeting their academic responsibilities. However, this is a great opportunity for seniors to work on job applications, resumes, college applications or essays).

Learning Area Conferences - November 6th & 7th.   The YHS version of Parent-Teacher Conferences is around the corner.  Individual appointments are not made ahead of time; instead these conferences are held in the cafeteria or gym where teachers provide quick updates (approximately 5 minutes) of your child’s progress.  Our student ambassadors will be on site to help guide you through this evening. Please note:

- If your son or daughter's last name begins with A-K, conferences will be held from 3:30-6:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6th.

- Students with last names starting with L-Z will have conferences from 3:30-6:30 pm on Thursday, November 7th.

If there are conflicts with this schedule, parents may attend on the opposite evening. Furthermore, several our part-time faculty will only be available on the following evenings:

- David Pearl (social studies) - Wednesday only.

- Craig Collins (social studies) - Thursday only.

Playoffs - It has been a tremendous fall for our athletic programs.  Please check the YHS website for updated information as our field hockey, soccer, volleyball, football, and cross country teams will be participating in playoffs and regional championships during the next few weeks.

Winter Sports Night - As the fall season comes to an end, it is time to prepare for our winter sports season.  Winter Sports Information Night will be held on Monday, November 4th @ 6 pm. Please plan to attend if your son or daughter is planning to participate in a winter sport in order to meet with coaches about the upcoming season.  Note, too, that academic eligibility for winter sports, interscholastic clubs, and senior open campus is based on grades for the first quarter, which ends on November 1.

Best Regards,

Eric Klein, Amy Bongard, & David Creech - YHS Administrative Team
