A sensor in the YHS kitchen set off the fire alarm at that building this morning, causing an evacuation of the school. Yarmouth Fire Department responded and confirmed that no danger exists, and students are returning to classes at this time.

The Fire Department has given the clearance for students to return to classes at YES. All gauges are providing a reading of 0 ppm for combustible matter, indicating the building is safe. We have temporarily shut off natural gas to the building as a precautionary measure.

Yarmouth Elementary School has been evacuated due to an odor in the boiler room. The Fire Department is on site, and we expect to be able to return to classrooms soon. We will update you as soon as we can; all students are safe and comfortable at this time.

Good afternoon:
Earlier today, after the end of the school day, we received word that a non-specific threat has been made toward a school from a phone somewhere in the Falmouth/Cumberland region. Falmouth Police quickly located the position of the individual who posted this message and took the perpetrator into custody. We have been told that police believe there was no credibility to the threat and that no further threat exists at this time. I am notifying you simply to make you aware that this occurred, and that we continue to work with our local police department to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.
Please excuse the brevity of this message as I am sending this while traveling and do not have access to a computer.
I hope you all have an enjoyable and peaceful holiday weekend.
Andrew Dolloff
Superintendent of Schools
Yarmouth
